Yard Sale Benefit

Posted on: Friday, September 5, 2014

This Saturday, September 6th, from 7a-11a, there's Community Yard Sale happening at the home of Ruby Crew members Kendra Aronson and Betsi Clark. Several friends will be joining, so there will be PLENTY to pick through.
Among our vintage + new clothing, there will also be a smattering of tools, surfboards, fish tanks, fishing gear, dark room set, rad furniture, kitchen supplies & so so so much more.

1404 Syndey St

San Luis Obispo, CA 93401

Everyone needs a snack to fuel their treasure hunting endeavors, and Grrrnola's got you! Our roadside pick up will have loads of oats for sale.

If all that wasn't enough we, Ruby Rose, is setting up a pop-up market in the driveway! All proceeds will be going toward the Wendy's Happy Heart Fundraiser. Wendy has been a long time volunteer for the Leukemia Foundation and recently underwent a heart transplant. Now, she is need of her own fundraising for extended stay aftercare and rehabilitation efforts that insurance doesn't cover. Help our friend pay rent so she can get back to health!

Come, peruse, buy, eat, and donate through your purchases--or just come hang out with us as you drink your morning brew. See you tomorrow!

Thrifting (and eating) and fun with Ruby

Posted on: Wednesday, September 11, 2013

LA is the destination and a bundle of clothes is the objective.

We use Google, Yelp and blogs to find shops to try, some work out great and others, not so much. Thrifting can be hit and miss--do your research, be willing to change plans, play good music, eat well, and have fun!

First stop is fuel! Backyard Bowls in Goleta is pure yumminess. While we were eating Ruby got on craigslist to find us a sale in the area, she found one that she thought would be perfect.

The amazing sale that she found in Montecito consisted of three gals each cleaning out their olds and it was sooo good. I was so excited to see such wonderful things at a yard sale that Ruby had to keep telling me to focus! We bought a handful of clothes and art/home decor, but left behind lots, prices were a bit high for resale.

Before leaving SLO we were on the Daily Candy site-it is a food/entertainment/fashion/home site for LA. We had spied an article on 'best sandwiches in LA' and we decided on Simplethings sandwich and pie shop. The turkey sandwich with jalepeno stuffing was amazing!! Ruby got a whoopie pie and I enjoyed a mini choc satin pie.

The next few stops consisted of resale and thrift stores. A new one we found this trip was the National Council of Jewish Women thrift shop: they have a few locations and it was well stocked with current merchandise.

Our last stop was food on the way home, we both agreed that the Whole Foods in Oxnard would be a good stop, since we couldn't agree on any kind of road food. This was a brand spankin' new store and to our suprise, it had an airstream inside, made into a bar! We felt right at home here.

Ok, it may seem like we did more eating than shopping, we did shop and drop! I think we must have had our hands full at these points and didnt take photos,

Stephanie
