Local Love: BROOKS Woodcraft & Farris Lighting and Electric, Inc.

Posted on: Tuesday, January 11, 2011

Unfinished furniture for junkers-yes way! What has been a family business still is, although Chad and Lyle from Brooks Woodcraft have put their own spin on their store these past few years. Behind the chain-link fence are all kinds of antique, vintage, and gently used furniture.

The fun thing about this place is that there are so man eras and styles represented--indoor/outdoor, mid-century, newish, oldish, and well...you get it! Also, part of the charm of their store is the stories and tid-bits to be learned from Chad and Lyle, as they grew up in SLO.

Located in the back corner is Ferris Lighting, which is invaluable to us antiquers, as they carry parts, lighting, and do repairs. And last but not least is Lyles love of birds, chickens, and animals--you'll notice his corner with feed and such. This comes from his years involved with 4-H.

Spied at The Rose

Posted on: Friday, December 17, 2010

What makes a beauty? Putting together these photos for our Spied at the Rose reminded me of something a very wise gal once asked. "What is your self talk?" The question hit me like a ton of junk.

Who do we count on to build us up? Why are we looking for validation? Why is what others think so important? What should count is what we think about ourselves, what we have to offer, and that we are proud of ourselves and what we do. Tell yourself that you are a good person and deserve great things!!

Whether a student, stay at home mom (the hardest job ever) , volunteer or career gal, you have a whole new year ahead of you to 'rock it'. If it happens to be on a Thursday or Saturday, rock it on over to Ruby Rose!
